Templeton White Horsefeather
The White Horsefeather uses Templeton Rye to add notes of black pepper and spice to put a twist on this classic Midwest cocktail.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Templeton Rye Whiskey
- 4 oz. ginger beer
- 5 dashes Angostura bitters
- lemon wheel and white feather garnishes
Equipment

- Highball glass
Method
Add Templeton Rye Whiskey and ginger beer in tall cocktail glass. Gently stir to mix then fill highball glass with ice. Add bitters and a squeeze of lemon juice. Add lemon wheel and white feather as garnishes.
Templeton Rye Old Fashioned
With a blend of simple ingredients, Templeton Rye 6 Year truly shines in our take on this cocktail classic. Complimented by aromatic bitters and the sweetness of the sugar, the added kick of rye makes this a standout.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Templeton Rye 6 Year
- 1 Sugar Cube (or ½ tsp. of Sugar or Simple Syrup)
- 3 Dashes Angostura Bitters
- Large Ice Rock
- Orange Peel Garnish

- Muddler
- Rocks Glass
Method
Add sugar and bitters to a chilled rocks glass. Muddle and stir until sugar is nearly dissolved. Fill glass with one large ice cube, add Templeton Rye, and gently stir until chilled. Express the oil of the orange peel over the glass and add as a garnish.
Prohibition Manhattan
With the turn of the century came the rise of the cocktail. Prohibition, with its legendary speakeasies, only helped boost their popularity. Mix up this Templeton take on a classic Manhattan, featuring the welcome bite of rye to balance the sweet vermouth, and toast to the roaring (20)20s.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Templeton Rye 6 Year
- 1 oz. Sweet Vermouth
- 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
- Rocks Ice for Mixing
- Maraschino Cherry Garnish

- Julep Strainer
- Coupe Glass
Method
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Gently stir and strain into a martini glass, coupe glass, or short tumbler. Garnish with a cherry.
Shirley Templeton
Shirley grew up to be quite the classy lady. A nostalgic mix of lemon-lime soda and grenadine, the addition of Templeton Rye 4 Year helps balance the sweetness of this evolved soda fountain favorite.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Templeton Rye 4 Year
- 4–7 oz. Lemon Lime Soda
- Dash of Grenadine
- Rocks Ice
- Maraschino Cherry Garnish

Method
Combine Templeton Rye and lemon lime soda in a tumbler or Collins glass filled with ice. Top with grenadine until the drink is pink in color. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
Templeton Sour
A gorgeous float of red wine (we find the flavor of Malbec does best to balance our signature rye kick) turns this Templeton Rye whiskey sour, an already impressive egg-white cocktail, into a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Templeton Rye 6 Year
- 3⁄4 oz. Simple Syrup
- 3⁄4 oz. Lemon Juice
- 1 Egg White
- Cubed Ice
- 1 oz. Malbec Float
Equipment
- Cocktail Shaker
- Hawthorne Strainer
- Fine Strainer
- Rocks Glass
Method
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker except the Malbec and dry shake. Add ice and shake vigorously. Hawthorne and fine strain into a rocks glass filled with ice and float with the Malbec.
Iowa Mule
Take your traditional Moscow Mule–but mix it up in an Iowa cornfield right smack dab in the middle of harvest. This Templeton Rye mule is a combination of spicy ginger beer and bold Templeton Rye 4 Year, making for quite the refreshing whiskey kicker.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Templeton Rye 4 Year
- ½ oz. Fresh Lime Juice
- Ginger Beer
- Lime Round Garnish

Method
Pour Templeton Rye and lime juice into a tall glass or a copper mule mug filled with ice. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a lime round.
Frozen Julep
Conjuring up visions of horse races and decorative hats, the refreshing Templeton Rye julep seamlessly balances flavors of smooth mint and zippy pineapple, with the spice of Templeton Rye 4 Year. Always delicious, and always a safe bet to make a pitcher for your next party.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Templeton Rye 4 Year
- ½ oz. Crème de Menthe
- 1 oz Pineapple Juice
- ¼ oz. Lime Juice
- Lemon Lime Soda
- Mint Sprig Garnish

Method
Combine all ingredients except soda in a blender with ice. Blend until smooth. Pour in glass and top with soda, then garnish with a sprig of mint.
Summer Smash
Believe it or not, there’s a lot of people out there who think of whiskey only as a cold weather drink. But a hot afternoon in Templeton practically requires a porch swing and a pitcher of the Templeton Rye Summer Smash, a unique blend of rye, amaretto, citrus, and fresh blackberries.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. Templeton Rye 4 Year
- ½ oz. Amaretto
- 3-4 Blackberries
- 1 ½ oz. Fresh Sour Mix
- Rocks Ice
- Lemon Twist & Rosemary Sprig Garnish
Equipment

Method
Combine Templeton Rye, amaretto, blackberries, and fresh sour mix in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and double strain into a Collins glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lemon twist and rosemary sprig.
